Brother McGuire was invited to present before the US Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee this November as part of a discussion on the high unemployment rate for returning veterans. He cited the VIP program as a primary example of how private organizations are helping veterans transition into the civilian workforce after serving their country. Helmets to Hardhats and the G.I. Bill were also cited as important resources for veterans seeking work.
He was invited to participate in this forum after having impressed Senator Mark Begich (D-AK) at a field hearing on the state of veteran services in Alaska this past August.
