Fort Cavazos Welding Class 28 graduates from UA VIP program

Students who were part of the United Association Veterans in Piping (UA VIP) program Fort Cavazos Welding Class 28 graduated on Jan. 16.

Class 28 graduates have completed 118 days of training, where they learned the skills necessary for a successful civilian career in the pipe trades. The program provides a mix of classroom instruction and hands-on training. 

UA VIP is a DOD SkillBridge program created to help active-duty service members transition back to civilian life as smoothly as possible. 

After they transition out of the military, UA VIP graduates are guaranteed direct entry into a DOL-registered UA apprenticeship at an agreed-upon location. 

During their time in the program, students had the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications that will help them stand apart from other apprentices on future jobsites. 

These VIP graduates now know the basics of proper installation, maintenance and repair of various piping systems.

The UA VIP offers accelerated training in welding, HVACR or fire suppression at the following military bases: 

Graduate with guaranteed job placement 

After transitioning out of the military, UA VIP graduates will be placed into a DOL-registered UA apprenticeship program with a guaranteed job. 

The UA offers extensive opportunities to advance your career. After graduates complete their five-year apprenticeship, they will become journeymen, paving the way for excellent career opportunities and substantial potential for further advancement. 

While apprentices train, they will earn good union wages as they continue to expand their knowledge of the trade.
